I often purchase my daughters clothes from the Children’s Place web site, instead of going to the actual store. There are two reasons why…

1) I get coupons all the time giving me 15% off if I order online.

2) The Children’s Place web site has an Outfits section where you can see how an entire outfit looks. My 4-year old loves it. She picks out what she likes, and I buy the whole thing. Easy peasy.

And a borrow-able idea for indie designers.

Your web site can showcase single pieces for sale. But use your blog to feature outfits that you put together.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be an outfit of all your merchandise. If you’re a handbag designer - for example - look for jackets or shoes that would match your bag, and put them all together on your blog. (Of course giving credit and web site link to the merchandise you’re matching with.)

Remember, not every potential buyer has the vision to put an outfit together. But if you give them a little mental stimulation - (Hmmm… I have shoes just like those. And that bag would look great with them.) - you’ve upped your chances at making the sale.
