Of course I recommend that all indie designers maintain some sort of blog.
Why? Because they’re traffic attractors. Blogs pique a certain level of curiousity in potential buyers that mere storefronts can’t touch. It’s the personal touch of it all.
But a problem I’ve noticed indie designers have, is that they blog about their new products and upcoming products - then there’s rarely anything in between.
And that’s what today’s post is all about. What to blog about once you’ve said, “Here are my new bracelets for the month of May.”
Some suggestions for filling the usually dead air–
- Pay homage to other indie designers. If you know of other indie designers whose style blends well with your own merchandise, share the link love.
- Talk about new clothing/color/textile trends that you love. And while you’re at it, show how your goods fit in with those trends.
- Announce a one day sale. Do this on a monthly basis, and you’ll definitely establish a regular group of readers.
- Post polls/surveys to see what colors or styles potential customers want. And once you know, create it, and sell it to them.
However you decide to tackle it, keep the momentum going. If you’re always giving people a reason to come back, an interesting thing happens. They will come back.
